AMICUS Introduction

In the first event for Amicus at SOAS, Caroline, a former intern with Amicus in London, will be talking about the work Amicus does and how students can get involved. There will be a brief presentation followed by a Q&A.

Amicus is a small charity that helps provide representation for those facing the death penalty in the United States. We believe the death penalty is disproportionately imposed on the most vulnerable in society, violating their right to due process and equal justice before the law. Our aims are to provide better access to justice and to raise awareness of potential abuses of defendants' rights.

Amicus at SOAS will particularly be involved in promoting student involvment in the bi-annual US Death Penalty Training, promoting membership of Amicus, and raising awareness of the work Amicus does through fundraising and talks.
